Tammy Worthy-Jones has been baking for decades and dreamed of one day owning her very own bakery. Relocating from the big city of New York to the small town in Harrisburg was quite a change, but Tammy soon started introducing her “Southern-Grandma-styled” baked goods to her new Harrisburg friends, neighbors, and local business owners.

The first fruit trees were planted by Joseph C. Strite in 1914. More than 100 years later, Strites' Orchard is welcoming guests to enjoy fresh baked goods, ciders, and more – all made with fresh ingredients and recipes passed down through the family over the years. The bakery serves up freshly made breads, dessert loaves, cookies, donuts, pastries, and pies. Call ahead for a special order, or head out into the fields during “pick-your-own” events throughout the year.

Urban Churn makes ice cream through the traditional method of freezing ice and salt in hand-built Amish churns. This stop on our trail is at least two scoops of fantastic!

Because old-fashioned never gets old. Step back in time to the candy counter and browse the store’s shelves for your favorite (and sometimes hard-to-find) candies from your youth. Candy and sweets bring generations together, especially in a place like Zimmerman’s! In 1915, John S. Zimmerman began selling candy and homemade peanut butter in his new general store near Harrisburg. Guests should be thrilled that the family tradition lives on for new generations to enjoy.
